Bear and Chook by the Sea

This learning object is designed around a series of videos with Lisa Shanahan, author, and Emma Quay, illustrator, including a reading experience of their collaborative work, Bear and Chook by the Sea. Taken as a whole, this sequence of lessons is a Stage 1 unit of work that results in students working in pairs to produce a short play for performance.

Message targets

In this teaching unit, students examine the purpose of advertising and the techniques used to engage children. They explore health messages seen in advertising and how they can be used to make good decisions about their own and others health and wellbeing. Everyone Everyday Program

This resource is a unit of work about disability awareness with a focus on the concept of inclusion. It includes an introductory page for teachers and eight lesson plans. Each lesson has an overview, links to the Australian Curriculum, sequence of learning, activities and linked resources. Themes explored include: uniqueness, feelings, different ways of communicating, opportunities for all, participation, using spaces, different ways to learn and inclusion.
